4. The hair cycle

1. Anagen phase
In this growth phase, the hair root is activated and the production of a new hair begins.
The length of the anagen phase depends on age, gender, and individual metabolism.
2. Catagen phase
In this transition phase lasting about 2 to 3 weeks, the hair root stops producing cells and the hair follicle narrows at the lower end. The hair detaches from the papilla and withers. The hair follicle shortens.
3. Telogen phase
The last of the three cycle phases describes the resting phase of the hair, in which about 10 to 15% of hairs are always present. During this phase, the old hair is shed and the hair follicle rests until the hair falls out. Only then can the production of hair cells begin.

FAQ

How do I best use the eyelash serum? How should I apply it?

The serum must be applied once daily to the oil- and grease-free area at the lash line. The serum should wet the base of the lashes, where you would normally apply eyeliner or a lash line. But be sure not to get it in your eye! The applicator of the eyelash serum helps with this, as it is slightly thicker than conventional eyeliner brushes.

Also, wipe the applicator well! What remains on the applicator now is enough for both eyes!

Less is more! If you apply a lot, the chance of getting some in your eye is higher. And that should definitely not happen.

When will I notice the first difference?

On average, you should expect a timeframe of 4-6 weeks for the first results. However, regardless of success, you must use the serum daily for the first 12 weeks. Every day of the growth phase, your eyelash needs the information from beautylines® eyelash serum to achieve maximum growth.

Worth knowing: Each individual eyelash grows on average about 6-8 weeks. Then it remains for about 2 weeks before it withers and eventually falls out. This phase can last up to 3 months. That’s why it’s important to use the eyelash serum daily during the first 3 months to achieve maximum growth.

What should be considered when applying?

Based on experience, we recommend using the eyelash serum in the morning. Why? Usually, you remove makeup in the evening. This is done with specially designed makeup removers (which often contain oils or silicones) or high-quality oils like coconut oil, etc. This is often the source of the problem when someone says: the serum doesn’t work for me… nothing happens. Important: Oil clogs the pores, and if you don’t cleanse again, the active complex of the serum cannot reach the hair root to take effect. If you cleanse repeatedly, the skin is automatically stressed, which can cause irritated eyes/skin.

By applying it once in the morning, you can avoid both "sources of error"!! Many of our customers report that they cleanse their face in the morning. Then apply the serum sparingly as described. During the 1-2 minute absorption time, simply brush your teeth to save time. After that, you can apply your usual skincare products, put on makeup, etc. Just continue doing everything as you have done before.

Should I stop after 3 months then?

If you have used the eyelash serum daily for 3 months, you no longer need to apply it every day. However, to maintain your wonderful length, you should continue using the serum 3-5 times a week. This way, you can keep the result of long lashes.

What happens if I stop using it completely?

Your natural growth cycle will reset. That means your lash length will return to its original state. Just like the starting point.

My friend already had such long lashes after 5 weeks, and I don’t see anything yet!! Could it be that it doesn’t work for me?

Eyelash growth depends on various factors. When you start using the eyelash serum , you don’t know which growth phase the lash is currently in. This can affect how long it takes to see initial results. The strength, length, density, color, and texture of lashes are genetically predetermined for each person. This individual genetic program is fixed, which is why growth is individual. It’s also different whether a 17-year-old girl uses the serum compared to a 70-year-old woman. The eyelash serum works for everyone when used correctly. Some people just need a bit more patience, which is always rewarded with longer lashes!

Will the lashes then grow indefinitely?

No, hair growth is genetically predetermined as mentioned. The eyelash serum extends the growth phase. Depending on your individual predisposition, the lashes will grow for that long, but not indefinitely.

If I apply more, will the lashes grow faster?

Clearly: NO! This is a usage mistake that unfortunately happens very often at the beginning. Applying a lot, using the serum multiple times a day… it won’t make them grow faster! It only increases the chance that some serum gets into the eye, which should definitely be avoided. Applying too much could, in the worst case, cause irritation, swelling, and red eyes.

I have a celebration in 2 weeks and want to have longer lashes by then. Is that possible? I use it more often during the day for that:

That is a really tight timeframe and will most likely not speed up eyelash growth, even with a doubled dose. For the reasons mentioned earlier, it is also not advisable. On average, you should expect 4-6 weeks of use before seeing noticeable progress. If you want long lashes very quickly, we recommend eyelash extensions at a professional lash studio. An eyelash perm or lash lift can also help lashes appear longer. More info on that in the next paragraph.

I wear false eyelashes; is the eyelash serum compatible with lashes?

Yes, absolutely! First, our eyelash serum is oil- and fat-free and compatible with any common eyelash adhesive. A professional lash stylist will always recommend an eyelash serum because they can work better on healthy, strong lashes. Also, it’s nice when the lashes on the lower lash line, where it’s difficult or almost impossible to apply extensions, grow longer.

Our motto is: One does not exclude the other. Many simply love that mega dramatic eye look, and that definitely has its justification. However, to protect and care for your own lashes, using eyelash serum is almost a must.

I wear contact lenses; can I still use the eyelash serum?

Since the serum is only applied to the eyelid, directly at the lash line, and due to its sparing use does not get into the eye, contact lens wearers can use the serum without worry. As a precaution, wait to insert your lenses until the eyelash serum is fully absorbed.

What about permanent makeup?

Can I still tint my eyelashes now?

When should I not use the eyelash serum?

Since we do not conduct tests on animals or pregnant women, we recommend not using the eyelash serum during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Also, discontinue or avoid use during chemotherapy.
